Biography

Pastor Schleider is passionate about passing on the Christian faith to the next generation and has been actively involved in youth ministry or school ministry for over 3 decades. He started learning ASL in January of 2022, taking ASL classes from a Deaf professor at the local community college. He continues learning ASL from the Deaf members that he serves in a weekly ASL practice session that is open for everyone, especially parents of Deaf children. Pastor Schleider served as a board member for Lutheran Legacy for 15 years, and has also served as a circuit visitor, a vicarage supervisor, an archery instructor at a Lutheran school, and on district and synodical committees. Before being called into full-time ministry, he served honorably in the US Marines. He was also employed as the Chief of a rural sheriff’s department and was appointed to serve on the Criminal Justice Advisory Committee of the Houston–Galveston Area Council of Governments. Pastor Schleider has been married for over 40 years, has two married children, and 4 grandchildren. He enjoys fishing, hunting, bicycling, riding his Harley, and spending time with his family outdoors in God’s beautiful creation.
